March 4: Jewish Families of Mount Vernon

Presented by Lois Hanson

Paragraphs Bookstore manager, Lois Hanson, will present the story of Issac Rosenthall, one of the many businessmen and entrepreneurs featured in her new book, Our Worthy Townsmen: The Forgotten Lives of Mount Vernon's Jewish Families – 1847-1920.
Signed copies of the new book will be available for purchase.

 

April 1: People of Maplehurst

Presented by James Stoner and David Greer

The beautiful Gambier Street residence known as "Maplehurst" served for many years as the home of the Fairchild family and later as home to Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Williams.

Their stories will be portrayed by local reenactors, Jim Stoner and David Greer.

 

May 6: Knox County Student History Projects

We continue our series of area student history presentations with a first-person account of sailing here on the Mayflower 400 years ago and an update by a National History Day finalist on her experience in our nation's capital.

 

May 19*: Get Your Kicks on Route 36!

Presented by Allan Ferguson

An additional special Tuesday evening, 7:30 p.m., KCHS Museum program in May will feature author, Allan Ferguson, sharing interesting stories and attractions from his recently published book, Route 36: Ohio to Colorado - America's Heartland Highway, in which he highlights tales from along Knox County's own historic major U. S. highway.

June 3: 200 Years of Eye Care in Knox County

The year 2020 presents the perfect opportunity to look back at the medical specialty of Optometry and Ophthalmology, featuring stories about those who practiced it here and the marvelous medical progress we've seen over the past two centuries.
